Welcome to North Ealing Against HS2
INTRODUCTION
We are a non-profit affiliation of thousands of residents in the north of the London Borough of Ealing - particularly those in Northolt, Greenford, Perivale, Hanger Lane and North Acton who will be adversely affected by High-Speed-Rail (HS2)and, like the vast majority of the county will gain nothing from it. HS2 would cost the country £45 billion (net cost to the taxpayer) - which would be the largest single item of public expenditure in peacetime - and each taxpaying household would have to contribute about £2,000 to it.
HS2 was opposed by well over 90% of respondents to the 2011 HS2 Department for Transport consultation yet the government still decided to press ahead with it. Nonetheless it is only Parliament who really decide on HS2, by means of a hybrid bill. North Ealing Against HS2 (NEAHS2) are actively campaigning against HS2 both nationally and locally.
We have also been campaigning for the last two years for far better mitigation if HS2 is built. In particular we have been campaigning for the bore tunnel promised beneath Ruislip to be extended beneath Northolt, Greenford, Perivale and Hanger Lane.

VESTED INTERESTS IN GOVERNMENT
It has been revealed that Lord Howell, George Osborne's father-in-law is employed by Japanese Central Railways. No wonder Howell and Osborne are so in favour of HS2 - its hard to know why Japanese Central Railways would want to employ him - other than for the political influence he wields when large government contracts are on offer. HS2 is clearly a large trough for those used to sticking their snouts in it.
